WILDLIFE GALOREbear

7 NIGHTS JUNE 1-SEPT 10
Experience “in-depth” Alaska’s capital city of Juneau (population approximately 31,000). Juneau is the smallest in population of all our 50 capitals, but it is the largest city in the western hemisphere in area (larger than the state of Rhode Island). This tour begins and ends in Juneau.

DAY 1: Arrive in Juneau and check in to your bed and breakfast or hotel. This is a free day to explore on your own, depending upon your arrival time in Juneau.

DAY 2: Tracy Arm is a narrow, glacier-carved fjord located about 50 miles south of Juneau. The walls soar over a mile high, and the glacier-fed waters plunge an additional depth of 1,500 feet! The often ice-choked head is fed from both the North Sawyer glacier, and the South Sawyer Glacier. This full-day tour begins at 8:00 a.m. and returns at 6:00 p.m. and features a variety of wildlife such as seals, whales, bears, eagles, porpoise, and much more.

DAY 3: This day you will go on a 5 hour whale watching and fishing trip with experienced and knowledgeable locals. Later that day you can visit Mt. Robert Tram featuring spectacular scenery, native culture and artwork, nature trails, even shopping and dining; all at a 2000 foot peak of pristine alpine wilderness.

DAY 4: Fly to Admiralty Island for Bear Viewing at Pack Creek via floatplane from Juneau. One-way flight time is about 30 minutes. Enjoy a full day of exploration. A Forest Service guide will be available to answer all your questions. Pack Creek estuary provides a unique opportunity to observe brown bears as they feed on salmon from June through early September. There is no road access from the mainland to this isolated wilderness area. Safely observe bears up-close and personal!

DAY 5: Fly to Glacier Bay and check into the Bear Track Inn. The Bear Track Inn features exquisite accommodations, incredible activities, scrumptious meals, true Alaskan ambience and hospitality. Glacier Bay is internationally recognized as the “Gateway to Glacier Bay National Park". Gustavus is surrounded by majestic scenery and pristine wilderness and supports a diversified and extraordinary array of Alaskan wildlife. All meals and transfers included. Keep an eye out for a variety of wildlife such as seals, whales, bears, eagles, porpoise, and more.

DAY 6: Cruise Glacier Bay- Glacier Bay National Park includes 16 tidewater glaciers, 12 of which actively calve icebergs into the bay. As water undermines the ice fronts, great blocks of ice up to 200 feet high break loose and crash into the water. The Johns Hopkins Glacier calves such volumes of ice that it is seldom possible to approach its ice cliffs closer than about 2 miles. The rate at which these glaciers retreat is known nowhere else on earth. Scientists have documented this rapid retreat, hoping to learn how glacial activity relates to climate changes.

DAY 7: Fly back to Juneau in midday

DAY 8: Check out of your Juneau hotel or B&B and head back home.

Prices starting at $2,375.00 per person based on double occupancy.
